What's actually on the app.
Does this work on my phone in the field?+
Yes. Engine is a web app that installs on iOS and Android as a home-screen icon - no app store. Everything the crew needs - today's route, job details, adding line items, sending invoices - works on a phone with one hand.
Can my crew log time without giving them admin access?+
Yes. Team members get a restricted role: they see the jobs on their schedule, can check in/out, add photos, and capture customer signatures. They cannot see pricing, other crews' jobs, or any financials.
How does Engine handle cash payments?+
Log cash the same way you log a card payment - mark the invoice paid, select Cash, note the amount. It flows through to live revenue and the CPA portal. No Stripe fee, no separate spreadsheet.
Do I need a credit card to start?+
No. The 14-day trial is fully open - no card, no commitment. When the trial ends, the account pauses (data preserved) and you pick a plan + add a card from inside the app to keep going. If Engine isn't a fit, just walk away.
What are the card payment rates?+
Card payments: 2.9% + 30¢ on Solo, 3.4% + 30¢ on Crew, 3.9% + 30¢ on Business - comparable to Jobber's 2.9% and Housecall Pro's 2.59%. Cash and check are always free. Founding-50 customers are locked at the standard 2.9% rate across every tier, for life. The full breakdown of where each cent goes is shown inside the app once you're signed in - no hidden margin.
Do I have to sign a contract?+
No. $29/mo, month-to-month, cancel anytime. The first 50 paying accounts get 30% off forever - that discount follows the account for life, not just the first year.
What does the accountant get?+
A free read-only login. They see invoices, expenses, job profitability, and can export everything to CSV or QuickBooks-compatible format. You don't pay for a second seat just to give your CPA access.
